Churchill
Churchill, originally known as Zeke, came to SDPR as a 4 month old puppy. He had been purchased from a breeder who would not take him back when it was discovered that his family could not keep him due to landlord issues. (Obviously not a reputable, responsible breeder).
Churchill was a gangly standard poodle puppy, all legs and lots of love! We found him the perfect home with Bonnie and Bryan, experienced standard poodle people. Churchill is currently in obedience training, in which he excels, and plans are for him to be a therapy dog! We are so proud of Churchill.
Here is what Bonnie and Bryan have to say:
Churchill is now over 6 months old....and weighing in at 40 pounds. He is a gorgeous silver standard. He has a sweet personality and is very entertaining for the whole family. He loves to go for walks in the neighborhood and is getting to know his fellow canine buddies. He is very much a puppy (granted a big one).... And loves to chew anything. So, we have lots of chew toys available for him. He has started obedience classes and is really learning lots of new things (me, too). He is getting along well with our two older cats. I had been starting the process to look for a dog that would a good candidate as a pet therapy dog to take to facilities to visit the elderly. (I included a picture ...we took him unofficially to visit our Aunt who has dementia...she and the other residents loved Churchill and his (so far) "sit", "stay", "paw/shake" and "down"). A special thank you to Cindy for letting me know about him coming into rescue. Also, Janine and San Diego Poodle Rescue was so positive to work with.
